Here are some links to websites we find useful or entertaining. Some are products we recommend, and others are just for a little comic relief. Enjoy!
Topicdesk.com :: Anyone using Apple's Mac OS X Server to run their email system should head on over to the Topic Desk website. They've got some of the best tutorials and tools for getting your Mac OS X Postfix/Cyrus mailserver set up and running right. Apple has done a great job with OS X server, but the GUI configuration tools they provide often fall very short in harnessing the full power of the underlying UNIX software. The tools and articles you'll find at Topic Desk do a great job of bridging that gap. Although the good folks at Topic Desk provide these tools free of charge, I highly suggest a generous donation so they can keep doing their excellent work.
Saft :: For any Mac user who uses Apple's Safari web browser, Saft is a must-have. After you use it for a while, you may wonder how you ever did without it. No more hunting for bookmarked sites - use a keyboard shortcut to instantly find and open any site in your history or bookmark lists, based on title or url content. Recover from crashes and accidentally closed windows, and fully control your tabbed windows. Saft also features full-screen browsing, and adds many useful sites to Safari's google toolbar. This allows easy searching without needing to visit the site to do the search, you just get the results. A few of these toolbar add-ons are: MacOSXHints, MacUpdate, iTunes Music Store, Dictionary.com, and you can add any of your own. Visit Saft's website for a full feature list and free demo.
Quicksilver :: Quicksilver lets you find or open just about anything on your computer. Launch any application, document, folder or website. Navigate and open the contents of your iTunes, iPhoto, or Address book. All this done by simply typing a quick keyboard shortcut, and the first few letters of what you're looking for. No more clutter of windows or using the built-in "Find" application. Like Saft, mentioned above, Quicksilver has fundamentally changed the way I use my Mac, and vastly reduced the amount of time I spend locating data and files. Working on a Mac without it feels like a jump backwards into the computer dark ages.
Data Memory Systems :: For years, the good folks at Data Memory Systems have consistently had the best memory prices around, and they back up their prices with great customer service. Before your next RAM purchase, check out their prices.
Red Swingline Stapler :: This site is a cornucopia of trivia and information about the movie Office Space, which happens to be one of our favorites. Anyone who's ever worked in a corporate office environment can relate to this film. Test your Office Space knowledge by taking the movie quiz, or buy yourself a vintage red Swingline stapler, just like Milton had in the movie! Hmmm... just scored a 70% on the quiz, so better go watch the movie a few more times!
P-P-P-PowerBook! :: P-P-P-PowerBook - scam the scammer! Read about one of the greatest Mac laptops ever made (with some great bundled software and books!), and see some great close-up screenshots. OK, it's a little long to read the whole story, but well worth it. And, it's a cathartic bit of poetic justice for anyone who's ever been scammed online.
