Consulting Policies
Travel :: Travel is free to locations in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and Sausalito. Travel to other areas will be billed at 50% of our regular hourly consulting rate.
In-person visits :: There is a two hour minimum charge for in-person consulting visits, and after the second hour, time is billed in fifteen minute increments. Oftentimes, problems can be resolved over the phone or remotely. Phone and remote consulting is billed in 15 minute increments.
Evaluation :: An initial one hour on-site evaluation can be performed for potential clients, which is billed at our regular hourly rate. If you decide to use our services, the one hour payment will be credited toward your first invoice.
Data and backups :: Clients are fully responsible for backing up their data prior to any work being performed on their equipment, and Walcott Consulting will not be responsible for any data loss caused by, or due to a lack of, previously installed backup systems. If you don't have a backup system, we can recommend and install one for you. Clients are also fully responsible for regular verification of proper backup function, which generally includes checking backup log files, and doing test data restores. We can help to train and establish best practices for these procedures as well
Referrals :: Refer a new client to us, and your company will receive a credit for 10% of the amount of that new client's first invoice.
After hours support :: Our regular hourly consulting rate applies to all scheduled work performed Monday through Friday, 9AM to 6PM, excluding national holidays. Work performed outside those hours is billed at 200% our regular consulting rate, with a two-hour minimum.
