Add the date to the Mac menu bar (posted: 10-28-04 5:31 PM)

One of the few things I still miss about Mac OS 9 is the ability to show the date in the menu bar (in addition to the time). Here is a simple command to bring it back to OS X:

defaults write -g AppleICUTimeFormatStrings -dict-add 2 "MM'-'dd' 'HH':'mm':'ss"

To change it back, use:

defaults write -g AppleICUTimeFormatStrings -dict-add 2 "HH':'mm':'ss"
