Lock out your Mac keyboard and monitor (posted: 11-05-04 9:39 PM)
Most people know how to use Mac screen saver passwords to lock their screens while they're away from their computer, but there's another way to do it which doesn't require engaging screen saver passwords.
To use this feature, open the "Keychain Access" application inside /Applications/Utilities. Then go to the View menu, and select "View > Show Status in Menu Bar."
Now you'll see a padlock icon in your Mac menu bar. Click it and select "Lock Screen" and any prying eyes will be kept off your Mac until you enter your user account password.
