Force Apple's Mail application to show plain text only (posted: 1-03-05 8:27 PM)

One feature that's missing from Apple's Mail program is a preference setting to force the display of emails in text mode (such that html formatting and graphics will be ignored). There actually is a way to do it, though, it's just buried a little. Open the terminal and enter this command to enable text-only mode:

defaults write com.apple.mail PreferPlainText -bool TRUE
