Duplicate email messages, or messages that won't delete in Microsoft Entourage 2004 (posted: 10-10-06 11:44 AM)

Microsoft Entourage 2004 is a feature-rich, but sometimes quirky (OK, that may be an understatement), Mac email and PIM program. One annoyance I run into frequently is a situation where duplicate messages appear in mailboxes, or messages exist that cannot be deleted.

There's a fairly straighforward step you can take which usually solves this problem, and will restore your mailboxes to a functional state, where there are no duplicates, and where you can properly delete your messages. Just hold down the 'Control' key on your Mac keyboard, and select 'Empty Cache' from the pop up menu. Then hold down the control key again, and select 'Repair Message List' from the pop up menu. Each step can take a few minutes (or more, depending on the number of messages), so be sure to be patient.
